Dortmund head to Aspmyra’s artificial pitch without Schlotterbeck
Kjetil Knutsen’s side were beaten 5-0 at Bayern on matchday one but are level on points with Viking at the top of the Eliteserien, while Niko Kovač’s Dortmund opened with a 3-2 win over Villarreal and are unbeaten in seven games. Kick-off on Aspmyra’s heated artificial surface is at 21:00 CEST, with Switzerland’s Urs Schnyder the referee. Bodø/Glimt and Borussia Dortmund meet at the Aspmyra Stadion on Wednesday, 14 October 2026, on matchday two of the Champions League league phase.
“Vi møter et topp, topp lag så vi må opp på en topp prestasjon om vi skal være konkurransedyktige.” – Bodø/Glimt coach Kjetil Knutsen
Predicted lineups: Bodø/Glimt vs Dortmund
Dortmund’s biggest change is at the back. Nico Schlotterbeck, who scored against Bremen, is being rested after an ankle problem, partly because of the artificial pitch, and Emre Can is out until the new year with a cruciate ligament injury. Julian Ryerson and Carney Chukwuemeka are back in the 22-man squad. Bodø are without centre-back Odin Bjørtuft, who is suspended after his red card in Munich, as well as Evjen, Riisnæs and Mikkelsen. Goalkeeper Nikita Haikin went off at half-time at Bayern, but UEFA still expects him to start, and Helmersen returns after being rested at the weekend.
Bodø/Glimt Team News & Preview
The 5-0 defeat in Munich was a harsh start, and Bodø did not manage a shot on target that night, although it was goalless until early in the second half. At home, though, they are a different team. They have won ten of their 11 Eliteserien home games this season, including the last seven in a row, and on Saturday they dismantled Kristiansund 3-1 with 22 shots to three and 62 per cent possession. That keeps them level on points with Viking in a live title race.
Aspmyra also has a strong European record. Last season Bodø beat Manchester City 3-1, Inter 3-1 and Sporting 3-0 on this pitch, and Knutsen’s side are used to pressing high and controlling games against bigger names here. Helmersen has scored 12 top-flight goals in 2026 and returns to lead the line. The main concerns are at the back, where Bjørtuft is suspended and Haikin’s fitness is not entirely clear.
What works for or against Bodø/Glimt
- Ten wins from 11 league home games, including seven in a row.
- Beat Manchester City, Inter and Sporting at Aspmyra last season.
- Had 22 shots to three against Kristiansund on Saturday.
- Odin Bjørtuft is suspended after his red card in Munich.
- Failed to register a shot on target in the 5-0 defeat at Bayern.
Borussia Dortmund Team News & Preview
Dortmund have started the season well. They won their first four Bundesliga games and beat Villarreal 3-2 on matchday one, with Serhou Guirassy scoring twice, and they are unbeaten in seven matches in all competitions. But Friday’s 2-2 draw with Werder Bremen was a warning. Bremen sat deep for most of the game, Dortmund finally went 2-0 up through Svensson and Schlotterbeck in the 80th and 85th minutes, and then conceded to Reis in the 88th minute and Füllkrug in stoppage time.
Without Schlotterbeck, Kovač loses a regular in his back three who had just scored against Bremen. That matters on an artificial pitch where Bodø press aggressively and move the ball quickly, and where the visiting defenders will have to cope with a surface they rarely play on.
What works for or against Dortmund
- Unbeaten in seven games in all competitions.
- Guirassy scored twice in the 3-2 win over Villarreal.
- Nico Schlotterbeck and Emre Can are both out.
- Conceded twice in the final three minutes against Bremen.

Bodo/Glimt vs. Dortmund Form Guide
Bodo/Glimt Form, Stats & Data
Bodø’s home numbers are the key context: seven straight Eliteserien wins at Aspmyra and only one home defeat all season. The weekend’s 22-3 shot count against Kristiansund shows how much control they usually have here. The Bayern result proves they can be overwhelmed by an elite side, but that game was away from home and on grass.
Dortmund Form, Stats & Data
Dortmund are a strong, settled side, with four wins from five league games and a 3-2 win over Villarreal in Europe. Their defensive record is the area to watch: they conceded twice late against a Bremen side that had offered very little, and now they lose Schlotterbeck from the back three on a pitch where the hosts are at their most comfortable.
Bodø/Glimt vs Dortmund: Prediction & Betting Tip
Dortmund are rightly favourites on quality, but this is one of the hardest away trips in the competition. Bodø have won seven home games in a row, beat City, Inter and Sporting here last season, and Dortmund arrive without Schlotterbeck after conceding twice late to Bremen. On this surface, I think the hosts can at least take a point, and the Double Chance gives me both the draw and a home win.
My main concern is Bodø’s performance in Munich, where they did not register a shot on target, and the absence of Bjørtuft in central defence. Dortmund also have Guirassy, who is capable of deciding a game on his own. But Aspmyra has repeatedly levelled out bigger quality gaps than this one, and I am happy to side with the hosts not losing.
Bodø/Glimt or Draw (Double Chance) at 1.63 with Winz is the bet. Correct score: 2-2.
