Nyon have been overwhelmed on their travels, and Winterthur score freely at the Schützenwiese
Stade Nyonnais have played five Challenge League games away from home and lost all five, scoring twice and conceding 16. Winterthur’s home record is almost the mirror image: unbeaten in five, with 14 goals scored. Patrick Rahmen’s side are third after relegation from the Super League, but they lost 3-0 at Xamax before the break and were knocked out of the cup by a stoppage-time Luzern goal last Saturday, so they have a point to prove in front of a sold-out crowd.

Predicted lineups: Winterthur vs Nyon
Neither club has reported official absentees. Antonio Marchesano says the calf problem that troubled him early in the season has now cleared, and he hit the bar with a free kick against Luzern. Nyon are expected to stick with the 4-4-2 that beat Aarau, their first league win of the season. Both line-ups are my best estimate based on the last league games.
Winterthur Team News & Preview
The 3-0 defeat at Xamax on 9 October was Winterthur’s first league loss since late July, and the cup exit against Luzern stung, with Dorn scoring in the 92nd minute after Luzern had dominated the first half. In the league, though, the Schützenwiese has been a fortress: 5-0 against Wil, 4-0 against Xamax, 2-1 against Aarau and draws with Yverdon and leaders Stade Lausanne-Ouchy.
Winterthur average 1.9 goals and 5.6 shots on target per game, the numbers of a side that expects to control matches at this level. Elias Maluvunu and Emilio Kehrer share the scoring lead with three goals each, which shows how widely the goals are spread.
What works for or against Winterthur
- Unbeaten at home in the league, with 14 goals in five games.
- 1.9 goals and 5.6 shots on target per game.
- Lost 3-0 at Xamax in their last league game.
- Knocked out of the cup by Luzern last weekend.
Nyon Team News & Preview
Aurélien Mioch’s side finally won a league game on 9 October, 2-1 against Aarau, but that came at home, where all five of their points have been earned. Away from Nyon the results have been heavy: 0-2 at Stade Lausanne-Ouchy, 1-2 at Aarau, 0-3 at Kriens, 1-4 at Yverdon and 0-5 at Wil.
They also lost 3-0 to Basel in the cup last week, after an error by goalkeeper Marwan Aubert led to the first goal. With 24 goals conceded in ten league games, the most in the division, Nyon are likely to spend long spells defending.

- 24 goals conceded, the most in the division.
- Drew 2-2 with Winterthur in the first meeting.

Winterthur vs. Stade Nyonnais Form Guide
Winterthur Form, Stats & Data
Winterthur combine 54% possession with almost six shots on target per game. At home, those numbers have translated into 2.8 goals per match.
Stade Nyonnais Form, Stats & Data
Nyon have a team rating of just 6.51 and concede 2.4 goals per game. Their attack offers little, but the defensive numbers are the key to this fixture.
Winterthur vs Nyon: Prediction & Betting Tip
The home win is a short price, so I prefer goals. Winterthur have scored 14 times in five home league games, four of those matches have produced at least three goals, and Nyon have conceded 16 in five away games. Even one goal from the visitors is not essential for this bet: a 3-0 home win does the job.
The risk is a cagey game. Winterthur were held 1-1 at home by Stade Lausanne-Ouchy, and Nyon took a point off them in the first meeting. If Winterthur score early and then manage the game, it could finish 2-0. On the evidence of this season, though, Nyon’s defence will struggle to keep the score down for 90 minutes.
My main bet is Over 2.5 Goals at 1.30 with Winz, and I am going for 3-0.
