Tynecastle fortress meets goal-shy Nordsjælland
On Thursday, 15 October 2026, Hearts take on FC Nordsjælland at Tynecastle Park, in the opening round of the Conference League league phase. Hearts are third in the Scottish Premiership and arrive on the back of a 5-0 win over St Mirren, their 11th home league win in a row. Nordsjælland are fourth in the Danish Superliga but have been struggling to score. Kick-off is at 21:00. The referee had not been confirmed at the time of writing.
“I think we’re really thin there, from my perspective.” – Hearts manager Wouter Vrancken on his midfield options
Predicted lineups: Hearts vs Nordsjælland
Hearts are without Magnusson, who serves a UEFA suspension carried over from his red card in Vienna in August, and midfielder Spittal (shin), Renaud (ankle) and Halkett are also out. There was good news on Saturday, when centre-back Malachi Fagan-Walcott returned after more than two months out and Ageu made his first home start after a long thigh injury. Nordsjælland have doubts over captain Tobias Salquist, Araphat Mohammed and Souleymane Alio.
Hearts Team News & Preview
Hearts are third in the Premiership with 16 points from eight games and have scored 19 goals, the most in the division. Saturday’s 5-0 win over St Mirren was their 11th straight home league win: Mendy volleyed in the opener, Miller scored two penalties, and Braga and McPake added the rest. Vrancken was able to take off Wilson and Braga early with this game in mind.
Tynecastle has been a fortress. Hearts have lost only one of their last 32 home games, a 2-0 defeat by Sturm Graz in Europe, and Wilson, McPake and Braga have three league goals each. The concern is the schedule, with a very busy run of games and a thin midfield.
What works for or against Hearts
- 11 home league wins in a row.
- 19 league goals, the most in the Premiership.
- Magnusson suspended, Spittal and Halkett injured.
- Ageu and Fagan-Walcott only just back from long injuries.
FC Nordsjælland Team News & Preview
Nordsjælland are fourth in the Superliga with 18 points from ten games and a goal difference of 14:10. Their recent results have been mixed: a 2-2 draw at Midtjylland and a 2-0 win over AGF, followed by a 4-1 defeat at Viborg and a goalless home draw with OB last Friday. After the OB game, Salquist admitted the team were not making the most of their chances.
Jens Olsen’s side were prolific in qualifying, scoring 17 goals in six games, with Hjalte Boe Rasmussen and Røjkjær scoring three each. In the league, though, Alexander Lind and Rasmussen are the top scorers with only three goals each.
What works for or against Nordsjælland
- 17 goals in six Conference League qualifiers.
- Failed to score against OB last Friday.
- Lost 4-1 at Viborg in their last away league game.
- Doubts over captain Salquist.

Hearts vs. Nordsjaelland Form Guide
Hearts Form, Stats & Data
Hearts score 2.38 goals and concede one per league game. At Tynecastle they are relentless, and with Miller, Braga and McPake all chipping in, the goals are spread across the team.
Nordsjaelland Form, Stats & Data
Nordsjælland line up with a back three and have conceded only once per game, but in the Superliga they have scored just 1.4 goals per game. Away from home, they have looked vulnerable, as the 4-1 defeat at Viborg showed.
Hearts vs Nordsjælland: Prediction & Betting Tip
Nordsjælland are favourites, but I think that underrates what Hearts are doing at home. Eleven straight home league wins and one defeat in 32 home games is an exceptional record, and Nordsjælland’s recent form away from home and in front of goal is not convincing. Taking Hearts with the draw as cover is the bet I like here.
My main concern is Hearts‘ squad. Magnusson is suspended, Spittal and Halkett are out, and Vrancken has admitted his midfield is thin, while Nordsjælland come in as the favourites. If Hearts tire, Nordsjælland could take control late on. Even so, the home record is too strong for me to oppose.
Hearts or Draw (Double Chance) at 1.65 with Winz is the bet. Correct score: 2-1.
