Reedijk’s first Easter Road game against fellow strugglers Falkirk
Hibs are tenth with seven points, one ahead of Falkirk, and this is Marink Reedijk’s first home game since he replaced the sacked David Gray. His first match ended in a 1-0 defeat at Dundee United. Falkirk lost 2-1 at home to Dundee last weekend to a goal in the 91st minute. Kick-off is at 16:00, with Nick Walsh the referee. The game is at Easter Road on Saturday, 17 October 2026, in round 9 of the Scottish Premiership.
“We lacked the braveness on and off the ball.” – Hibs manager Marink Reedijk after the defeat at Dundee United
Predicted lineups: Hibs vs Falkirk
Hibs are without Jacob Devaney, who was sent off at Tannadice and has also picked up an injury. Jamie McGrath and Adam Mayor trained this week but are still being assessed, and Rocky Bushiri, Kanayochukwu Megwa and Jordan Obita are long-term absentees. Falkirk are missing Aidan Nesbitt, Aodhan Doherty, Ethan Laidlaw and Joseph Gardner, while Keelan Adams is doubtful with an ankle problem.
Hibernian Team News & Preview
Hibs sacked David Gray in September after a 1-0 home defeat to Kilmarnock. John Potter took one game as interim, a 1-1 draw with Aberdeen, before Reedijk arrived. His first game at Tannadice was a 1-0 defeat in which Dundee United were the better side and should have scored more. Hibs fans‘ frustration spilled over in the away end.
Reedijk said his team were not there yet and lacked bravery. Their only win in their last five games came in the cup at Ross County, and they have now lost three of their four home league games.
What works for or against Hibs
- One point from four home league games.
- Devaney is out, with several others doubtful.
- First home game under Reedijk could bring a lift.
- One win in five, and that came in the cup.
Falkirk Team News & Preview
Falkirk led Dundee through Jacob Murrell’s penalty last weekend but lost 2-1 to a set piece in the 91st minute. McGlynn said late goals had become a theme and that it needed to stop. Before that, they drew 1-1 at Dundee United and 1-1 at St Johnstone and beat Hearts 2-1 at home.
Their away record is better than Hibs‘ home record. Falkirk have lost only one of their four away league games.
What works for or against Falkirk
- Lost only one of four away league games.
- Draws at Dundee United and St Johnstone.
- Keep conceding late goals.
- Four players out, with Adams doubtful.

Hibernian Form, Stats & Data
Hibs score one goal per game and concede 1.5. Their home record is the real problem: they have lost three of four league games at Easter Road, scoring three and conceding seven.
Falkirk Form, Stats & Data
Falkirk have scored seven and conceded 11 in eight league games. Away from home they have been hard to beat, with three draws and one defeat in four games, scoring three and conceding four.
Hibs vs Falkirk: Prediction & Betting Tip
Hibs go into this game as favourites, but I do not see it in their results. They have one point from four home league games, they lost Reedijk’s first match without much of a fight, and Devaney is out. Falkirk have been hard to beat away from home, with three draws and one defeat. I like Falkirk or the draw at 2.23.
What worries me is the new manager. Reedijk has had a full week with the squad, Easter Road will want a reaction, and Hibs have more quality on paper. Falkirk also have a habit of conceding late. That is why I keep the stake small, but I am happy to take Falkirk with the draw on my side.
I am backing Falkirk or Draw (Double Chance) at 2.23 with Winz, and I have it finishing 1-1.
