The champions have nothing left to play for – Östersund have everything
Pre-match update (12:10 CET): Norrköping have left top scorer Christoffer Nyman out of their 21-man squad as a precaution, so they are without him as well as the suspended Viggo Fälth. Stephen Bolma and Algot Hjelm are injured, while goalkeeper Theo Krantz is back in the squad. Östersund have confirmed their XI: Emil Özkan returns from suspension and Jabir Abdihakim Ali starts up front instead of Mario Palomino Delgado. Losing Nyman only weakens the hosts further, so I am sticking with Östersund Double Chance at 3/10. Norrköping’s starting XI had not been published at the time of writing. The odds quoted are from Friday (30 October), and prices may have moved since.
IFK Norrköping wrapped up the Superettan title with a 4-0 win at Norrby last weekend, and promotion had been sealed two weeks earlier. Saturday is their last home game of the season, a celebration more than a contest. Östersund arrive in a very different frame of mind: third in the table, three points behind Falkenberg with two rounds left, and unbeaten in 15 league games. A win keeps alive their hopes of going up automatically; anything less could leave them fighting to keep a play-off place.
„Men jag tycker att vi fortfarande var i något festmode.“ („But I think we were still in some kind of party mode.“) – Norrköping head coach Eldar Abdulic after the 2-2 draw with Örebro, the first game after promotion was secured
Predicted lineups: Norrköping vs Östersund
Norrköping will be without Viggo Fälth, who is suspended, and top scorer Christoffer Nyman, who has been left out of the squad as a precaution. Stephen Bolma and Algot Hjelm are injured. Theo Krantz is back among the three goalkeepers named, so he could replace David Mitov Nilsson in goal; the hosts’ XI below is still my prediction. Östersund’s line-up is confirmed: Emil Özkan is back from suspension, Jabir Abdihakim Ali leads the line in place of Mario Palomino Delgado, and Gustav Odenlind returns to the bench after a short injury lay-off.
Norrköping Team News & Preview
There is no doubting Norrköping’s quality. They have taken 62 points from 28 games, scored 58 and conceded only 18, and Noel Sernelius has equalled the Superettan assist record with 17. At home they have won eight of 14. The question is focus. The first game after promotion was sealed ended 2-2 at home to Örebro, with Norrköping 2-0 down before rescuing a point, and Abdulic admitted his side were still in party mode. They did win 4-0 at Norrby with the title on the line, but that motivation has gone now, and with Fälth suspended and Nyman left out as a precaution, they will field a changed side.
What works for or against Norrköping
- Champions with 58 goals scored and 18 conceded.
- Title and promotion already secured.
- Fälth suspended, top scorer Nyman out as a precaution.
- Last home game of the season.
Östersund Team News & Preview
Östersund have become the hardest side in the division to beat. Their last league defeat was a 2-0 home loss to Norrköping in June, and since then they have gone 15 games unbeaten, with seven wins and eight draws. Two more unbeaten games would equal the Superettan record. The defence is the foundation: two goals conceded in the last five league games and 0.93 per game across the season. Away from home they are hard to break down too, with draws of 1-1, 0-0 and 0-0 and a 1-0 win among their recent trips. Last weekend’s 4-1 win over Nordic United, with three goals in the second half, showed they can also go up a gear.
What works for or against Östersund
- Unbeaten in 15 league games.
- Two goals conceded in the last five league games.
- Still chasing second place and direct promotion.
- Lost 2-0 at home to Norrköping in June.

Norrköping vs. Östersund Form Guide
Norrköping Form, Stats & Data
These are the numbers of a dominant side, and on a normal weekend I would not be looking to oppose them. But they were built by a team with something to chase. With the title won, a key defender suspended and their top scorer missing, I expect a looser, more relaxed Norrköping.
Östersund Form, Stats & Data
Östersund do not score freely, but they rarely lose. Twelve draws in 28 games show how often they grind out a point, and that is exactly the result that pays out on this bet alongside a win.
Norrköping vs Östersund: Prediction & Betting Tip
Norrköping are still the best team in the league, and the last meeting proves it: they won 2-0 in Östersund in June. Their players will want to sign off at home in style, and they won 4-0 at Norrby even with the title at stake rather than already won. I think the motivation gap is too big to ignore. Östersund need points for promotion, have not lost in 15 games and defend superbly, while the champions are without Fälth and their top scorer Nyman. Östersunds FK Double Chance (Draw or Östersund) at 1.54 with Winz is my bet at 3/10. I expect a 1-1.
