A difficult week for Sabadell, and a leaky Real Sociedad B
This has not been a normal week in the Segunda. After the death of Tenerife’s Jesús de Miguel, Sabadell did not train on Wednesday or Thursday, and Ferran Costa had wanted the round to be suspended. On the pitch, his side are 11th, unbeaten at home and looking for their first win in three. Real Sociedad B are 19th with 11 points and have conceded 22 goals in 12 games, but they still create chances, and they won their last home game against Girona.
„Some things are bigger than football, and this is a clear example.“ – Ferran Costa this week (via RàdioSabadell, translated from Catalan)
Predicted lineups: Sabadell vs Real Sociedad B
Sabadell lose Óscar Sanz, their highest-rated player, to a suspension for five yellow cards, but Edgar González is back from his own ban and is the obvious replacement. Quadri Liameed is a doubt with concussion. Codina, Nuamah and Xavi Moreno are injured, and Gioacchini, joint top scorer, has a cruciate ligament injury. Real Sociedad B are without Orobengoa, while Aguirre is a doubt with muscle overload. Carrera and Beitia were called up to the first team for the weekend, so their availability for Monday is open.
CE Sabadell Team News & Preview
Sabadell have 17 points from 12 games and are unbeaten at home, with three wins and two draws and eight goals scored. Their recent results have been frustrating: a 1-0 defeat at Burgos, a 1-1 draw with Tenerife and a 2-1 defeat at Albacete in which they had 66 per cent of the ball and 25 shots, played against ten men from the 42nd minute and conceded twice through own goals.
That game sums up their season. Their underlying numbers are much better than their results, with 1.52 expected goals created and 1.06 allowed per game, but they have scored only 12 times. Losing Sanz and possibly Quadri hurts the midfield, and Costa has said openly that no player in the division is in the right frame of mind this weekend.
What works for or against Sabadell
- Unbeaten at home, three wins in five.
- 1.52 expected goals per game.
- Óscar Sanz suspended, Quadri a doubt.
- Two missed training sessions this week.
Real Sociedad B Team News & Preview
Real Sociedad B are 19th and in the relegation places. Away from home they have two wins, a draw and three defeats, with nine goals scored and 12 conceded. Their games have produced 37 goals in 12 matches, and the last three show why: a 4-2 home defeat to Almería, a 1-0 defeat at Las Palmas and then a 1-0 win over Girona, settled by Astiazarán in the 86th minute.
Jon Ansotegi expects a very hard game and said his side will look for Sabadell’s weak points. Astiazarán, their highest-rated player, and Gorosabel share the scoring lead with three goals each. The defence remains the problem, allowing 1.58 expected goals per game.
What works for or against Real Sociedad B
- Beat Girona in their last game.
- 1.42 expected goals per game.
- 22 goals conceded, 1.8 per game.
- Three defeats in six away games.

Sabadell vs. Sociedad II Form Guide
Sabadell Form, Stats & Data
Sabadell have scored around six goals fewer than their chances deserve. That kind of gap tends to close over time, and a defence as open as Real Sociedad B’s is a good opponent for it to start closing against.
Sociedad II Form, Stats & Data
Real Sociedad B play open games: they create plenty and concede more. Their matches average just over three goals, well above Sabadell’s figure.
Sabadell vs Real Sociedad B: Prediction & Betting Tip
My bet is on the chances both sides create rather than on Sabadell’s low-scoring record. Sabadell produce more than 1.5 expected goals per game and have been wasteful, and they now face a defence that concedes 1.8 goals per game. Real Sociedad B carry a threat of their own, and their games have averaged more than three goals. I expect the hosts to score at least twice and the visitors to have their moments.
The strongest argument against is Sabadell’s actual record. Their 12 league games have produced only 23 goals, and they have conceded only 11. Add a week without two training sessions, the emotional weight of the tribute before kick-off and the loss of Sanz, and a flat, low-scoring game is a real possibility. That is why I am keeping the stake at the minimum. Over 2.5 Goals at 1.98 with Winz is my bet at 1/10, and I expect a 2-1 home win.
