Altach’s home games always open up – and Ried arrive on tired legs
Pre-match update (16:05 CET): The official line-ups are not out yet. Vesel Demaku is a doubt for Altach after taking a knock, and ORF’s predicted side has Bähre in midfield and Yann Massombo pushed into the front line alongside Rodney Elongo-Yombo and Ousmane Diawara. Ried may rotate after Wednesday’s extra time at LASK, but none of that undermines the case for goals, so Over 2.5 Goals stays my bet at 3/10. Julian Schnur is the referee. The odds quoted are from publication on 30 October; prices may have moved since.
Altach are a team with two faces. Away from home they have lost all five league games without scoring. At the Schnabelholz they have won three of five, and every one of those games has had at least three goals. Ried come to Vorarlberg after a draining week: a 2-2 at Sturm on Sunday, then 120 minutes at LASK on Wednesday, where a 3-1 lead turned into a 5-4 cup defeat after extra time. Altach won their own cup tie 4-0 at GAK a day earlier.
„Nach dem intensiven Cup-Spiel gegen den LASK geht es jetzt darum, uns gut zu regenerieren.“ („After the intense cup game against LASK, the priority now is to recover well.“) – Ried coach Mario Despotović
Predicted lineups: Altach vs Ried
Ognjen Zarić is expected to stick with the side that beat Austria Wien 2-1 in the league, built around Patrick Greil behind Rodney Elongo-Yombo and Ousmane Diawara. Yann Massombo scored twice in the cup and once against Austria. Ried sporting director Lukas Brandl pointed out that his side have a day less to recover and are playing their third game in a week. Alessandro Goiginger is out long-term with a cruciate ligament injury.
Altach Team News & Preview
Altach’s home results read 3-1, 1-2, 1-2, 3-0 and 2-1: ten goals scored, six conceded, and never fewer than three in total. They scored in all five. The contrast with their away form, no goals in five games, is striking, but on Saturday they are at home, where their attack has been far more direct.
The midweek cup tie helps too. Altach won 4-0 at GAK inside 90 minutes on Tuesday, with Massombo scoring twice, so they have had an extra day’s rest on Ried.
What works for or against Altach
- Every home league game has had at least three goals.
- Scored in all five home games, ten goals in total.
- Only one goal per game across the season.
- One more day of rest than Ried.
Ried Team News & Preview
Ried are fifth and have scored in every league game this season, averaging 1.8 goals per game and 1.94 expected goals. They also concede: 17 goals in ten games and 1.78 expected goals against per match. Away from home their games have finished 1-1, 4-1, 3-2, 1-2 and 2-2, eight goals scored and eleven conceded.
Philipp Pomer is the top scorer with four goals and the best-rated player in the squad. The concern is fatigue after Wednesday’s 120 minutes, which could cost them sharpness at both ends.
What works for or against Ried
- Scored in all ten league games.
- Four of five away games went over 2.5 goals.
- Played 120 minutes in the cup on Wednesday.
- Fatigue could make them more cautious.

Altach vs. Ried Form Guide
Altach Form, Stats & Data
The season averages hide a split: all ten of Altach’s goals have come at home. That is the number that matters for this bet, along with the fact that they have conceded in four of their five home games.
Ried Form, Stats & Data
Ried create and concede in roughly equal measure, nearly two expected goals each way per game. Those are the numbers of a side whose matches rarely stay tight.
Altach vs Ried: Prediction & Betting Tip
Fatigue is the strongest argument against goals. Ried played extra time three days ago, and tired teams sometimes sit deeper and settle for a point. Altach also average only one goal per game across the season, so if their home spark is missing this could be a low-key 1-1.
I think the patterns are too strong to ignore. Every Altach home game has had three or more goals, four of five Ried away games have too, and Ried have scored in every league match. Tired defences tend to leak rather than tighten up. Over 2.5 Goals at 1.63 with Winz is my bet at 3/10, and I expect a 2-1 home win.
