AGF’s missing men and Braga’s tight defence point to a low-scoring night
Pre-match update (17:50 CET): The team sheets are in. Janni Serra and Mikael Anderson are both out as expected, but AGF have also left Frederik Tingager, their best-rated player this season, out of the squad. Callø comes into the back three alongside Rösler and Mølgaard, and Stefen Tchamche leads the line with James Bogere on the bench. Braga go 4-3-3 with Pau Víctor up front instead of Fran Navarro. Losing Tingager weakens the defence I expected to keep this tight, so I am cutting the stake on Under 2.5 Goals from 4/10 to 3/10. The 1.79 with MyStake is the price from publication; I could not re-check it before kick-off, so it may have moved.
Jakob Poulsen will have to build an attack without his leading scorer. Janni Serra, who has five of AGF’s 17 league goals, is injured, and so are Mikael Anderson, Nicolai Poulsen and Kevin Yakob. Eric Kahl is suspended after his red card against Egnatia and Daníel Grétarsson is missing for family reasons. That leaves a side that already averages under four shots on target per Superliga game short of options, against a Braga team that concedes very little.
Predicted lineups: AGF vs Braga
The line-ups are confirmed. AGF go 3-4-2-1 without Frederik Tingager, who trained on Wednesday but was left out of the squad. Mads Hedenstad starts in goal, Callø joins Colin Rösler and Tobias Mølgaard at the back, and Stefen Tchamche leads the line with Sebastian Jørgensen and Callum McCowatt behind him. James Bogere and Mouhammade Camara, back after an injury lay-off, start on the bench. Braga have only Sikou Niakaté missing, and Franclim Carvalho goes 4-3-3 with João Moutinho, Jean-Baptiste Gorby and Mario Dorgeles in midfield and Pau Víctor between Ricardo Horta and Gabri Martínez.
AGF Team News & Preview
AGF have one point from two league-phase games after a 1-0 defeat in Ghent and a 1-1 draw with Egnatia, and Sunday’s 2-0 defeat at Brøndby did nothing for their confidence. Their underlying numbers are middling: 1.31 goals per league game, 3.8 shots on target per game and only one clean sheet in 13 Superliga matches.
The injury list hits the front line hardest. Serra has been their main source of goals, Anderson and Poulsen are first-team regulars, and losing Kahl removes one of their best passers. AGF play this one at Cepheus Park in Randers.
What works for or against AGF
- Held FC København to a 1-1 draw last month.
- Top scorer Serra is injured.
- Only 3.8 shots on target per league game.
- Kahl suspended and Grétarsson absent.
Sporting Braga Team News & Preview
Franclim Carvalho took charge in October and his first four games have been tight: 2-0 against Gent, a 1-0 defeat at Nacional, 2-2 with Famalicão in the League Cup and 3-0 against Famalicão in the league. Braga have the meanest defence in Portugal on expected goals, conceding only 7.5 in ten league matches, and only two sides in the league average more possession.
Away from home they have struggled. They were beaten 3-0 in Copenhagen on matchday one and have won only one of their last eight away games. They control matches, but they do not score many: 1.2 goals per league game.
What works for or against Braga
- Fewest expected goals conceded in Liga Portugal.
- Only one long-term absentee.
- One win in their last eight away games.
- Lost 3-0 at FC København in Europe.

Aarhus vs. Braga Form Guide
Aarhus Form, Stats & Data
Only 3.8 shots on target per game is the key figure, and that is with Serra available. Without him, AGF will find it even harder to test Braga’s goalkeeper.
Braga Form, Stats & Data
Braga allow only 0.75 expected goals per league game. They have the ball for long spells but rarely turn it into lots of goals.
AGF vs Braga: Prediction & Betting Tip
Everything points to a low-scoring game. AGF are missing their top scorer and two other regulars and rarely hit the target even at full strength. Braga keep the ball, give little away and score only 1.2 goals per league game. Three of Carvalho’s four games in charge have stayed under 2.5 goals, and both of AGF’s European games have too.
What could break it? Braga conceded three in Copenhagen, and AGF’s own defence lets in 1.6 a game in Denmark. An early Braga goal would force the hosts to open up, and Horta and Moutinho can punish that. I still trust the profile of these two sides and the absences, so Under 2.5 Goals at 1.79 with MyStake gets 3/10, down from 4/10 now that Tingager has been left out. I see it finishing 0-1.
